Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada , Missouri hosted a barbecue for all residents, staff and families to kick off National Nursing Home Week on May 6, 2011.  Volunteers brought a large cooker to cook hamburgers and hot dogs.  The usual potato salad and baked beans were also served.  For dessert the residents chose strawberry cobbler which was out of this world!  The weather was perfect for the event and there were at least 200 in attendance.

On May 9th Residents at Moore-Few enjoyed a ventriloquism show performed by Evelyn Hickham from Jamestown , Missouri .  Pictured are:  Ida Daniels, resident; Willie and Evelyn Hickham.  This show was excellent!  Both staff and residents were highly entertained.  The show was comedy, magic and ventriloquism all rolled into one.

On Friday, May 13th 2011, Christian Health Care Republic held a carnival.  The facility had a little help from fifty-four Republic eighth-graders in the Junior National Honor Society and Student Council.  They lent a hand in helping usher the residents between activities, games and food.  Also many of the resident’s family members showed up to assist.

Among the activities for the day were several carnival games, food, professional photos, a dunk tank and even a petting zoo.  The petting zoo seemed to be the biggest attraction with its Boa snake, camel, goat, calf, and many other animals.  After each resident had been through the entire carnival they were directed to the ticket booth where they were able to trade in the tickets they had won.  At the ticket booth there was a variety of prizes from candy to CHC t-shirts.  By the end of the day our residents were exhausted, but stated that it was the most fun they had in years.
